About the mix

A simple 50/50 mix of sphagnum moss and perlite. Sphagnum provides moisture retention, while perlite adds aeration and structure.

The ratio can be adjusted depending on the plant and growing conditions — more moss for moisture, more perlite for extra aeration.

We have mainly used this mix as a rescue substrate for plants struggling with overwatering, underwatering or damaged roots. It has helped us recover plants that were placed in unsuitable substrates or were simply struggling with their growing conditions.

It is also a very useful mix for carnivorous plants.
